do you have kids? you get more for kids. There is also a new Working Income Tax benefit that gives up to $1000 to low income earners with atleast $3000 income from employment. You may have paid high taxes throughout the year. you get all your tax back if you make less than $9600 (or more depending on your non refundable tax credits.

Canada Revenue Agency will review your tax return before they send you a refund.

If you are still unsure, go into HR Block with your slips and a copy of the return and get a free double check.
Reply:yes, this could be correct because you are exempt from paying taxes if you make under $9,600 / year in canada. Clearly your company expected you to make more therefore they calculated too much for your bi-weekly (weekly/monthly) deductions.

Any income over this base amount is liable for tax at 15%.

Look at your T4, line 22. you should expect a return of at least this amount if not a little bit more due to your added provincial tax benefit.

Others are different as they have different payroll departments calculating different deductions based on what the employee is expected to make in that tax year.
