Is there an income tax on online employment for F2 visa students?

I am an international student with F2 visa. My tax status is non-resident alien. Over the last 8 months, I had an online translation job for which I got paid almost 1000$ a month. I received the money from within the USA. A friend of mine has recently told me that such employment, though online, is not allowed for F2 students. If this is correct, how can I report my income? Would it harm me if I do so?Wouldn'tt it be wise not to report such income and stop this employment? Sorry, I am confused and i do not want to risk my status and lose my Visa!

The IRS will not out you to immigration.

This online job gets reported on a schedule C and, since it was in violation of your visa the IRS may decide you should also file a schedule SE.

Not reporting your income is not an option.
Reply:It's probably illegal, however the IRS is barred by law form sharing your tax return information with anyone else aside from your state's revenue department (where only the income is reported, not its source) so the USCIS will not find out about it from the IRS.

Report the income and pay the taxes due! Failing to do so will get you in SERIOUS trouble with the IRS. And if you are not paying your taxes, the IRS can tell USCIS about the non-payment of a tax debt. Paying the taxes won't affect your visa, but NOT paying them very well could!
Reply:You must file tax return if you self employed income is $400 or more.

You are self employed or independent contractor. You will report your income and expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). Read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/tax-...
